In emergencies, every second counts. The Pet Vet First Aid Guide is your essential companion for pet care during critical moments. Written by experienced veterinarian Dr. Leah Hill, this guide features color illustrations and easy-to-read charts that clearly outline symptoms of common diseases and toxicities, as well as the appropriate treatments—making it the only pet first aid guide created for fast, easy access to life-saving information. In addition to step-by-step instructions on performing CPR and assisting a choking pet, the guide offers comprehensive, illustrated guidance on basic first aid, managing injuries, understanding food toxicities, and more. There’s even a link to a custom chocolate toxicity calculator. Whether you're a seasoned pet owner or new guardian, this book equips you with the knowledge to keep your pet safe when professional help isn't immediately available. Be prepared for the unexpected and ensure your pet receives the best care possible with the Pet Vet First Aid Guide—because every pet deserves a knowledgeable and prepared pet parent.

About the author

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Leah Hill moved to the United States in 1990 and earned her veterinary degree from Iowa State School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. In 2004, she purchased a veterinary clinic in Merced, California, where she quickly noticed a lack of local emergency services for pets. Understanding the stress pet owners faced when forced to drive over an hour during critical situations, Dr. Hill established a 24/7 emergency clinic to provide accessible care to her community. She owned and operated the clinic until 2016, when she sold the practice but continues to practice small animal medicine, regularly handling emergencies with the same dedication she’s shown throughout her career.  Driven by her commitment to helping pet owners, she authored the Pet Vet First Aid Guide and created a specialized Pet First Aid Kit to equip people with the tools they need during emergencies when veterinary care may not be immediately available. Dr. Hill currently resides in Orange County with her husband, daughter, two yellow labs, and two cats.
